Matt Hiland lives with his wife and son in Austin, Texas, and tries to do his part to help Austin maintain its title of "Live Music Capital of the World." He serves on the Board of Directors at Community Montessori School and is chairperson of the 2009 Serendipity Children's Festival. He also helps plan and produce the Open Ears Concerts - a series of benefit concerts held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.
Matt became a GIS enthusiast while attaining his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Louisiana State University. He now has eighteen years experience in executing and managing geographic information systems and information technology projects, with experience in transportation, state and municipal governments, Department of Defense, telecommunications, pipelines, coastal sciences, and environmental information management systems. His recent work has focused on strategic planning for integrating GIS into the business processes of large organizations, transportation and linear referencing systems, and highway safety analysis.
