Vanasse Hangen BrustlinTraffic EngineerVHB's growing transportation practice is searching for a talented traffic engineer in the firms Hauppauge, NY office. This position involves daily interaction with professional engineers working in the transportation field on private and/or public sector projects. Assignments will include performing various types of traffic data collection and analysis tasks on numerous high profile projects.
Qualified candidates must have 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning. The candidate must have an understanding of all areas of traffic engineering standards and procedures including basic intersection, roadway and traffic signal design; traffic impact assessment and environmental/development permitting. Knowledge of highway capacity methodology, traffic analysis software, word processing and spreadsheet applications is required.
The traffic engineer requires the following:
- 10+ years experience
- P.E. license
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Knowledge of traffic analysis software and techniques
- Experienced in a wide variety of private and municipal projects
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to testify at public hearings
