Environmental Scientist/ Planner

The Environmental Scientist/ Planner will support and/or manage portions of environmental planning and compliance projects, including EAs and EISs for various clients and projects. The Environmental Scientist/ Planner will develop technical reports and other compliance and permitting documents, which often support larger NEPA projects. Assist in identifying and communicating (verbally and in writing) environmental constraints of transportation, water resources, and planning related projects as they relate to NEPA processes and documentation. The individual also will lead or support studies and permitting activities related to his or her discipline as biological survey and monitoring projects, wetland delineation and mitigation projects, cultural resources, Section 106 and Section 7 consultations, planning studies, and other local and state permitting. Clients include federal, state, local, and private sector. Position may require frequent travel to support projects throughout the region, and occasional field work in rugged terrain in extreme climatic conditions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in environmental science/engineering/planning, natural resources, or related field. Masters degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of related experience in environmental planning/compliance projects or studies. Demonstrated basic knowledge of the NEPA process. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to collect, assimilate, and manage project related data. Self starter with strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving and research abilities. Proven experience with the NEPA process and/or environmental permitting. Experience in southwestern U.S. preferred.
