Socioeconomic Analyst

 MS in Planning or related field.
 Minimum 10 years of work experience, with 3 years of consulting experience, in community and regional planning, including economic analysis and forecasting, redevelopment planning, and/or geographic information system (GIS) data management and analysis. Work experience should also include researching/writing environmental planning, permitting, and/or regulatory documents such Resource Management Plans and Land Use Plans.
 Strong analytical skills and writing abilities, as well as good organization and communication skills.
 Must be organized, team player, critical thinker, and self-motivated.
 Experience in public participation planning and implementation.
 Technical experience or training in community planning, land use, or similar areas required.
 Experience performing a diversity of planning work.
 Must be able to be a fully functioning member of interdisciplinary teams to prepare planning and environmental compliance documents.
 Skill with MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
 Alaska experience required.
 Ability and interest to contribute occasionally to other environmental practice areas.
Job Description: This is a senior planning position responsible for supporting the execution of community planning and environmental projects. This will include technical analytic and writing tasks, as well as project management. The candidate would also be responsible for assisting with marketing efforts related to planning projects. The position provides opportunities for using candidate's planning skills to plan for development, to evaluate and mitigate impacts of development, and to learn new disciplines and skills through involvement with other facets of URS Alaska consulting services.

The Senior Planner may be involved with community, hazard mitigation, environmental, land use, and infrastructure planning projects, as well as permitting and NEPA analysis and documentation. This position is a part of the Planning Group and will report to the Planning Group Manager. Tasks could include:
 Assist project managers to develop project plans and associated technical and public communications documents.
 Work as a team member to plan and implement public engagement programs, write environmental compliance documents, and develop permit applications.
 Assist Planning Group with proposal development and marketing activities.
 Effectively communicate with project manager and team members in a timely and clear fashion.
 Manage time and work tasks to meet budget expectations.
 Develop and deliver progress reports.
 Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
