North Central Texas Council of GovernmentsSenior Transportation System Modeler - Travel Demand ModelingSince 1974, NCTCOG has served as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for transportation in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area and is responsible for developing transportation plans and programs that address the complex needs of the rapidly growing area. The planning area for transportation includes the 12 counties of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, and Wise.
The North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking a Senior Transportation System Modeler to maintain and improve regional travel, land-use and air quality modeling activities.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
* Participating in the planning, implementation, and management of short- and long-term projects * Designing and implementing reliable technical tools * Developing training programs to support modeling activities * Providing technical guidance for both model development activities and application projects * Participating in the collection and analysis of data * Studying existing methods and processes in practice * Supporting various committees * Attending committee and public meetings and/or events * Speaking on behalf of the Agency or Department * Serving on advisory committees and peer review panels for various internal and external projects * Preparing and delivering oral and written presentations * Supervising staff
Required Skills
* Good written and oral communication skills * Familiarity with travel surveys * Working knowledge of a programming language * Familiar with database concept * Knowledge of four-step travel modeling process * Detail oriented, highly organized, and ability to multi-task * Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Required Experience
* Work requires professional level knowledge which is acquired in a Master's degree level of study * At least three years of experience * Experience using TransCAD or another travel modeling software application
