Geospatial Technician I - GIS / CAD

There are several positions that will be available upon successful receipt of security clearance. Successful candidates will be responsible for completing a 2-4 week paid training program in photogrammetric stereo compilation. BAE SYSTEMS applies state-of-the-art photogrammetry to create accurate, detailed, and ?to scale? digital maps from aerial photography and/or satellite imagery; including the extraction of planimetric and contour/terrain features per client specifications. Training includes basic computer lab instruction, plenty of hands-on fundamental mapping exercises using Socet Set and / or ArcGIS software; followed by several months of on-the-job real work assignments in increasingly more complex projects. Successful applicants will extract vector data or terrain data from 2D and 3D imagery at scales ranging from 1:10,000 to 1:250,000 for ingest into the our customers product libraries. These TLM, Country GIS, City Data, and Hi-Resolution Terrain Elevation (HRTE) models are created using satellite and commercial imagery along with a variety of ancillary sources. Photo interpretation is used to identify features and to populate an extensive list of attribution. Teamwork and communication are crucial to meeting dynamic customer requirements and demands while working under close supervision/mentoring and high quality standards. Job openings may be on second shift (4PM to 12:30AM).

Job Requirements Include:
1) Individuals with 5+ years of working experience that display excellent work ethic, have self driven motivation to learn, and a sincere desire to be part of a winning TEAM are ideal.
2) Individuals with education from a technical / trade school major in CADD, Cartography, Land Surveying, or Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent related work experience are also preferred.
3) US Citizenship required (applicants offered positions are subject to US government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to both sensitive and classified information).
4) Demonstrated working level knowledge of an advanced computer graphics application(s) used in any of the above related majors/disciplines is required.
5) No relocation benefits are provided, thus preference will be given to qualified candidates in or from the local region (PA, OH and WV tri-state area).
6) Physical requirements directly related to essential duties of these positions include:
- eye sight/vision capability to accurately see and distingish the relative elevations of various features in stereosopic images (3-D imagery) on a specially equipped computer monitor. (Note: this ability is common with most individuals who possess normal depth perception and have functional eyesight in both eyes)
- sufficient eye-hand coordination to manipulate a computer mouse to precisely locate, distinguish, and record numerous points on 3-D digital imagery represented on the computer screen
