SAIC, Inc.GIS AnalystThe Global Preparedness, Science, and Recovery Business Unit (GPSR BU) has a contingent job opening for a GIS Analyst to support a contract with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This position is located in Las Vegas, NV with some Telework opportunities possible.
Job Description: Successful candidate will perform the duties such as: Implement Quality Assurance (QA) requirements associated with GIS applications and projects; Conduct accuracy assessments and change detection for landscape characterization and landscape ecology projects; Provide rapid response GIS analysis to support emergency/environmental response operations; GIS data management and format conversions of large and complex vector/raster data sets including remote sensing data, using ArcGIS and ERDAS applications; Conduct metric processing, watershed delineations, and GIS dataset/database development and manipulation, using ArcGIS and ERDAS software, as well as custom software extensions such as Analytical Tools Interface for Landscape Assessments (ATtILA) and custom processing scripts.
Qualifications: Basic Education and Skills:
Requires a BS in GIS or related field from an accredited college or university. In addition to educational requirements, a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in GIS analysis and data management using ArcGIS and/or ERDAS software. Requires experience conducting accuracy assessments and change detection for landscape characterization and landscape ecology projects. Requires experience accessing and utilizing federal and state databases, aerial photographs, and other remote sensing sources to support Geographical Information Systems (GIS) projects. Requires capability to provide all GIS products in an ArcGIS or other specified GIS software formats such as KML, KMZ and OGC.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Knowledge and experience with US EPA QA requirements is highly desired.
