Environmental Wetlands Specialist

We are searching for a Mid to Senior-Level Environmental Wetlands Specialist for our Canfield, OH location. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading projects from beginning to end and managing multi-disciplinary technical teams. Candidates must have direct work experience conducting wetland delineations to be considered. It is strongly desired that they have working knowledge of Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio Division of Oil & Gas, Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. The candidate will support these clients with permitting and siting of their infrastructure. In addition, the Wetlands Specialist will independently perform wetland identification, delineation, and functional assessment investigations in accordance with the USACE 1987 Manual and prepare all associated data sheets and wetland reports. The successful candidate will also prepare Section 404 (Department of the Army Permit Applications), Section 401 Water Quality Certification Permit Applications, and PADEP Chapter 105/Joint Permit Applications; coordinate permitting and mitigation with Ohio EPA, PADEP and USACE representatives; and, conduct surface water quality/biological assessments (chemistry, macroinvertebrates, and habitat).

Job Requirements :

Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or combination education and experiencein a related field is required. A minimum of 5 years of wetlands experience with projects related to one or more of the following areas: transportation, water, energy, oil/gas, mining, hydroelectric, and natural resources is required. Candidates must have a Professional Wetland Scientist Certification. The candidate must have an understanding of wetland ecology and permitting processes and be familiar with wetland mitigation site selection, design, and monitoring. Experience with NEPA document preparation (CEE, EA, and EIS) desired, but not required. Experience with alternatives analysis and the transportation development process is a plus. GIS/database/statistical experience in the environmental fields is a plus. The successful candidate must be available to travel via land and/or air and possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.
