Bill Barrett CorporationGIS SpecialistThis position requires strong initiative, critical thinking, and will be responsible for mapping functions, data management, and retrieval of GIS features while independently performing a variety of routine duties. This role will work with engineering, exploration, land, regulatory and environmental teams to obtain, integrate, display and analyze data, making recommendations on how best to deliver and display the desired product.
Responsibilities:
* Work with other GIS Specialists and technical staff to implement and coordinate data entry, data management and map construction Company geologic and GIS software platforms
* Proactively and independently work within a multi-disciplinary team focused on meeting established goals that maximize profitability
* Plan the implement and load databases, print maps, and maintain associated metadata
* Digitize non-digital information into the GIS database
* Build and proactively maintain acreage ownership maps for project areas
* Annotate/hand post lease data into spreadsheets for internal mapping
* Import/export cultural, pipeline, raster, image and lease data utilizing ArcGIS for various users
* Willing to achieve ESRI GIS CertificationKnowledge & Skills:
* Self-starter with exemplary communication and interpersonal skills with a service orientation mind set are essential for this position
* Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Access
* Intermediate proficiency in data management and mapping systems, utilizing ESRI ArcGIS, Petra or GeoGraphix software, that supports a fast-paced, multi-demand group, while at the same time ensuring accuracy and quality standards are met
* Highly organized, strong attention to detail and accuracy; proactive, ability to be creative, able to handle multiple tasks and achieve necessary results in a timely manner
* Strong initiative, service support skills and team environment orientation
* Ability to work independently
Education:
* A B.S. or B.A. degree in Geology, Geosciences or Geography with a strong GIS component or expected equivalent education/experience is required
Experience:
* Intermediate proficiency of a GIS mapping system, preferably ESRI ArcGIS
* Intermediate proficiency in GIS data management and map building
* Preferable Oil and Gas Industry related experience
