Fairfax County VirginiaTransportation Planner IISeeking a highly motivated and experienced transit professional to oversee and coordinate the Fairfax Connector bus service delivery in Fairfax County, Virginia. Performs operational support activities ensuring that the service delivery functions of the Fairfax Connector are provided and maintained in accordance with contractual requirements, operating policies, procedures and standards; and that customer service expectations are met by safe, secure, effective, and efficient service delivery that is customer service-focused.
This position is considered essential personnel, required to work during emergency situations and/or inclement weather. Will serve as a member of an "on call" staff on a rotating basis. Work hours will include compensating time to observe service delivery operations, meet deadlines, attend meetings, and manage emergency management incidents/situations and operational emergencies. There will be some weekend and holiday work assignments on a periodic, yet random basis.
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in civil engineering, urban/transportation planning or a closely related field; plus two years of experience related to transportation planning.
Preferred Qualifications: Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and within a team environment. Extensive knowledge of Fairfax County and the Fairfax Connector in particular. Knowledge of and relevant experience in: the management of public transportation (bus transit) service delivery and related elements; contract administration; project management; preparation of detailed specifications and/or task orders for procurement of services and/or equipment. Extensive experience related to transit operations and service delivery. Experience using GIS, TRAPEZE and its applications a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Prior fixed route/fixed schedule multi-division transit operating experience desired.
