GIS Specialist

Tetra Tech is a multi-disciplinary firm of consulting environmental scientists and engineers with offices throughout the world. We are seeking a Geographic Information Specialist to join our Salt Lake City office and become an integral member of our team.

Responsibilities: Create and maintain geospacial data and operate GIS and AutoCAD software. Prepare high-quality map products, and perform analyses of multiple resource interactions with resultant quantitative output. Successful candidate will be encouraged and is expected to have the ability to develop a range of cost effective GIS-based solutions for existing clients using established techniques. Will setup up data collection fields for field crews and work with existing GIS staff to improve existing database filing system and project assistance process. May be required to periodically join field crews in field to gather and compile data. Will be expected to finish work assignments within schedule and budgetary constraints.

Job Requirements :

Experience: Candidate will have a minimum of 2 years experience working directly with GIS applications. This experience may include that obtained in university or advanced technical training program in a case by case review.

Skills Requirements: Experience operating the latest ArcGIS software suite and extensions including 3D Analyst. Ability to work with a wide range of staff with a varying degree of GIS knowledge and sophistication. Must be able to drive a 4-wheel drive pickup in adverse conditions, work outside all day in varying climatic conditions, and walk several miles a day in irregular terrain. Ability to run AutoCAD software and the ability to run total station survey equipment is a plus.

Degree Requirements: BS in Geography or similar with an emphasis on or additional training in GIS operation and applications is preferred. However, advanced technical education in GIS operation with applicable work experience may also be adequate.
