GIS Manager

Jacobs/CSRS is seeking a talented and highly motivated Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Manager to support the City of New Orleans Federal and State Grants Management Program, located in our New Orleans, Louisiana office. The GIS Manager is responsible for managing large scale projects involving the collection, analysis, and dissemination of geospatial data for the City of New Orleans. Other major duties include the management of enterprise-level hardware and software systems to support storage and delivery of geospatial data and oversight of design and maintenance of databases and the development and compliance of accepted operating standards.

Responsibilities Include:

Manages hardware and software of the enterprise GIS computing facilities including evaluation of needs, ordering, licensing, recommendations for system and data architecture, and implementation of data management and security procedures. Oversees development of integrated relational databases involving geospatial dataSummarizes and conveys relevant information to Project Director, client, or stakeholders. Develops and implements quality assurance/quality control procedures including geospatial data management policies and guidelines, standards and metadata documentationDevelops and provides training to GIS specialists on geospatial data management and other operational issues. Manages and assists with the creation of GIS products and reports as neededMaintains current knowledge of enterprise GIS technologies and stays apprised of developments in the field. Performs other duties as assigned. Provides oversight on daily workload of assigned staff including work conducted by GIS specialistsExperience with ArcGIS. Principles of ArcGIS Mobile for WindowsExperience with file geodatabases maintenance, domain generation, and Mobile map synchronization. Managerial experience in a production environmentAbility to adapt or modify processes in response to changing circumstances

Training and Experience

Desired Experience and Skills:

Recent experience with ESRI Software (preferably ArcGIS 10)Experience with ArcGIS Mobile for Windows deployment. Experience with file geodatabases maintenance, geodatabases domain generation, and Mobile map synchronization. Practical knowledge in relational database design, creation, and maintenance. Ability to interpret guidelines and analyze available information for the purpose of coordinating efforts, planning, and implementing projects. Ability to work independently in a team environment, motivating others by example. Ability to exercise independent judgment
