Assistant Professor - Physical Geography

Assistant Professor, full-time, tenure track appointment in Physical Geography, to begin January or August 2014. PhD. in Geography, or related field, required at time of appointment. The Department of Geography and Earth Science at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse seeks a physical geographer with expertise in soil science and/or geomorphology. Application of GIS in physical geography is desirable, including teaching and research with the department's geospatial technology, including terrestrial LIDAR. Primary teaching responsibilities include introductory physical geography/earth science and upper level classes in geomorphology, soil morphology and genesis, geographic field methods and/or in area of specialization. Research specializations given special consideration may include any of the following: terrestrial and airborne LIDAR applications, geoarchaeology and/or soil science.

Applicants are expected to maintain an active research program in an undergraduate setting, and be committed to high quality teaching. Secondary responsibilities include advising undergraduate students, supervision of undergraduate research, and service to the department and university.
