Job Description: This position will support the URS Morrisville Planning Department in accomplishing planning and transportation planning projects including rail, highway, transit, and development projects. Primary responsibilities will include research, data collection, GIS mapping and analysis for community planning documents and for technical reports as part of environmental documents for compliance with NEPA and SEPA. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary team-oriented environment.
Incumbent responsibilities • Performs assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard scientific techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out tasks • Programs and applies a broad range of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) database, and spreadsheet software for GIS design, mapping and analysis • Independently contributes to the design of databases or development of geodatabases and systems, as well as compiles and analyzes GIS data • May evaluate commercial GIS applications, as well as design and develop GIS applications for internal use and for client deliverables • Fully understands how GIS data applies to decision-making
