This is a full-time hourly position (40 hours) for a 1-year Research Associate in Geospatial Analytics and Climate Change. This position is developed to support a recent PhD graduate (or soon to be competed PhD graduate) with emphasis in Climate Change, Geospatial Sciences, and Software and Information Systems. This program will focus on building collaborations between the U.S. National Park Service, North Carolina State University, and the public to advance the NPS Southeast Region Climate Change Program.
Essential Job Duties
•Climate change database development and analysis; •Development of smart resource management technologies and practices; •Software systems design and implementation; •Development of internet mapping applications; •Server-side application development; •Website maintenance and development; •Report and technical documentation generation; •Development of scientific manuscripts and external funding. M.S. in GIS, Computer Science, or Related field Departmental Required Skills
1.Completed, or soon to be completed (ABD), doctoral degree with a complement of skills relating to GIS, climate science, and software and information systems computer science; 2.Familiar with spatial information and analysis technologies, such as ArcGIS, Modelbuilder, ERDAS, ENVI, etc.; 3.Familiar with database, modeling, and programing skills; 4.Familiar with web development skills 5.Familiar with experience with SAS and R statistical packages; 6.General Information Technology skills; 8.Experience in coordinating with multiple stakeholders; 9. Experience in collaborating with federal entities; 10.Demonstrated grant writing ability and record. Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
