Economic Development Assistant

Position Summary
The incumbent will coordinate and support economic development activities for the Office of Economic Development (OED) and related university units involved in economic development, including, but not limited to, the UB Center for Advanced Biomedical and Bioengineering Technology (UB CAT) and the NYS Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics & Life Sciences (COE). A primary role will be to support the development and administration of the new economic development (ED) hub established within the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development under the supervision of the Associate Vice President for Economic Development. The focus of the position will be in line with the goals of service and program delivery excellence, operational expansion and funding, and outcomes measurement.

Key responsibilities include: Working with team members from within and beyond OED to promote and field inquiries for engagement in economic development activities, such as business development assistance, talent acquisition, and education and outreach events and programming. The ED assistant will provide support in the area of ED customer relationship management, outcomes tracking, and general administrative support, including account administration. As part of this role, the incumbent will assist in the management of the OED and marketing programs and projects, management of scheduling, travel, and meeting logistics primarily for the Associate VP of Economic Development and occasionally for other personnel, other program development support and meeting coordination and logistics, and basic financial systems.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Support program development and service delivery for new ED offerings.

Utilize recently implemented customer relationship management system (Salesforce) to manage internal and external customer contact information, inquiries, triage, referral, tracking, and outcomes measurement.

In coordination with others, plan and execute meetings and events including: participant outreach, marketing, logistics, budgeting, and day-of management.

Support marketing communications and program functions ranging from basic website content management and social media posting, to promotional material inventory and event logistics, under the supervision of others.

Provide schedule management for Associate VP of Economic Development, and related travel and meeting logistics support.

Prepare occasional meeting logistics support and necessary travel arrangements and travel reimbursement for other designated personnel.

Provide general administrative support, including basic account and office management.

Support ongoing economic impact tracking across university units involved in ED, and assist in outcomes data compilation and reporting to communicate the role and results of university ED activities.

Other Responsibilities: Special projects as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree with one to three years of administrative and commercialization, business development or marketing experience, including events, marketing communications management, and Web and social media content. The individual should have excellent writing, typing and advanced computer skills, including proficiency in using the Web. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential, and previous experience with customer relationship management (CRM) and online/social media marketing tools is preferred. The individual should possess excellent human relation skills and basic management skills.
