COMMUNITY: Valley City is a community of approximately 6,500 people, located in the beautiful Sheyenne River Valley in the east central portion of the state. Fargo-Moorhead, a metropolitan area, is located 60 miles east of Valley City on Interstate 94. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Social Geographer to teach Introductory Geography courses every semester in both online and face to face environments and other courses, both general education and upper level, in geography and political science. This position supports the General Education, Social Science, and History programs. Full-time is twelve credit hours per semester.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: A Master's degree in Social Geography with emphasis in politics, Political Science, or related fields required. Strong interpersonal communication skills and experience in effectively using instructional technologies are also required.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Terminal degree in Social Geography with emphasis in politics, Political Science or related field and experience in curriculum development.

SALARY, BENEFITS, AND TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Commensurate with education and experience. Group health and disability are provided. Participation in TIAA-CREF is part of the state higher education retirement program. This is a nine-month, full-time, tenured track position. APPLY TO: PDF applications are encouraged. Complete applications includes a letter of application, resume, three letters of reference with full contact information sent from the author, undergraduate and graduate transcripts (unofficial transcripts acceptable for application, if hired official transcripts will be required) and completed VCSU faculty employment application located at www.vcsu.edu/jobopenings/. Preference will be given to candidates able to demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.

It will be the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that reference letters are submitted in a timely manner. Review of applications begins immediately. Applications received after May 5, 2014 may not be considered.
