Persons appointed to this position will receive the privileges and benefits associated with regular employment status. Duties:
Performs coordination and administrative support activities, including categorizing and recording, mapping and publishing changes to the campus infrastructure in order to develop and maintain a Geographic Information System (GIS) supporting campus planning, utilities generation and distribution, and land use management of the University. This includes distributing collected survey-grade data and GIS related spatial databases to utility departments, project consultants, and other select University departments. Creates campus map exhibits for University departments’ publications and Board of Regents submittals. Education Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience Required:
3-5 years of related experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) applications.
Proficient in the ESRI suite of Geographic Information System (GIS) products and programing objects, specifically ArcGIS for Desktop and ArcGIS for Server.
Experience with and knowledge of the design, implementation, and management of geospatial databases.
Experience with and knowledge with Flex applications, JavaScript and Python programming languages.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail, ability to excel in cutting edge technologies.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Desirable Qualifications:
Familiarity with Dynamic HTML (DHTML), Extensible Markup Language (XML), and/or Windows batch programs or scripts.
Experience in GIS and spatial data sets at a government organization and/or university.
Experience in GIS within a utility organization and/or a utility system.
Familiarity with Computer Assisted Design (CAD) software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Map, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or equivalent).
Familiarity with Global Positioning System (GPS) surveying processes.
Familiarity with cadastral processes.
