Stanford UniversityGIS/WEB TechnicianThe GIS/Web Technician assists LUEP’s GIS team in the management and maintenance of the LBRE/LUEP/HS spatial databases, and provides technical support in GIS and other spatial and web technologies to LBRE/LUEP/HS staff. This may include one or more of the following activities:
• Data entry, analysis, display and dissemination of spatial information for LUEP and HS • Develop and maintain LUEP GIS master geospatial databases and metadata: data creation/editing/conversion • Process spatial and/or relational data sets derived from cartographic and tabular source material, GPS, CAD and another sources • Update and maintain various GIS data, including the street centerline, parcel, subdivision, zoning, and utility data. Input data from surveys, engineering plans, plats, and other records. • Perform Spatial Analysis and 3D modeling • Perform Global Positioning System (GPS) field data collection • Produce maps and/or other graphic products to support LBRE/LUEP presentations • Provide WEB support and on-line mapping: develops, designs and delivers web site structure for LUEP/HS Internet/Intranet sites • Document, test, implement and maintain web pages and multimedia design using appropriate web publishing, editing and graphics applications • Maintain technical expertise in web design tools and acts as technical resource for software in field of expertise • Provide hardware and software support to other LUEP/HS team members • Foster teamwork and participate in building the GIS program
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Geography/Cartography/GIS/Environmental Sciences/Civil Engineering/Computer Science or related field • GIS certificate or three years of experience with ESRI products: ArcMap(10.1), spatial analyst, 3D analyst and other extensions • Capable of working with ESRI products; SDE geodatabase, including versioned geodatabase environment • Basic knowledge of programming languages such as HTML, Java Script, Perl, and use of web tools such as Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat • Basic AutoCAD experience in order to cross over and perform simple CAD work within the CADD/GIS department • Must be skilled in the use of computer and peripheral equipment. Maintain plotters, wide format printers, and scanners • Strong Microsoft Office skills • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment • Strong drive for quality
