Job Description:

The Department of Geography and Regional Planning (GARP), Westfield State University (WSU), invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning September 2015. Academic load is 12 hours teaching per semester.

The department seeks a broadly trained geographer with experience in teacher education, place-based/environmental education, and/or civic learning and community engagement. Candidates with research and teaching interests that complement the department’s expertise are requested. Regional expertise is a plus.

Teaching responsibilities include introductory geography courses in the university's core curriculum, and other upper level courses in the area of expertise.

Advising of regional planning students is required. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an appropriate research and public service agenda.

Requirements:

Ph.D. in geography, or a strongly related field with an urban and/or environmental planning focus, and a desire to teach undergraduates.
