Data Analyst

Job Qualifications: 

Under general supervision, the Data Analyst provides professional level research support requiring the application of standard research practices and techniques for the College of Public Health. Primary responsibilities include obtaining various community indicators from secondary and administrative sources; cleaning large and small datasets and using GIS and statistical software (SAS) to run spatial and statistical analyses pertaining to community participation of individuals with psychiatric disorders; recording results of research test and experiments; and preparing detailed charts and reports of procedures. In addition, the Data Analyst will review survey literature and summarize pertinent data; establish and maintain literary files; and assist in the preparation and/or editing of research manuals for publication.  Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Associates Degree in Statistics, Quantitative Geography, or related field and at least 1 year of related experience using SAS, ArcGIS and Google Maps, and experience with analyzing data from correlational and experimental studies.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

*Expertise with basic data management tasks.

*Excellent technical writing abilities.

*Must have a strong interest in rehabilitation research.

*Ability to operate standard office equipment and software including MS Office.

*Experience conducting literature reviews and creating summary tables/charts from data.

*Excellent organization skills.

*Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

*Ability to interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff. 

*Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.

*Willingness to learn Rapid Miner and spatio-temporal data mining tools.

*Willingness to do data collection/interviewing.

 

Preferred:

*Bachelor’s, Master’s degree in a related field.

*Comfortable with the following statistical tools: T-tests, ANOVAs, multiple regression.

* Experience with Mixed Models.

This is a Grant-Funded Position.
