Denver Water’s Information Technology Division is currently seeking a qualified candidate to assist us as an I.T. Application Developer III/IV.  Under direction, this position will be responsible for participating in the development, maintenance, enhancement and deployment into production of Geographic Information Technology (GIT) applications, working as a part of a GIS Scrum Team to develop and support GIT applications to serve Denver Water’s internal employees and external customers. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a strong desire and a passion to assist Denver Water to become the “best water utility in the nation”.

The successful candidate will be able to perform the following duties:

  • Develop and transition of GIT applications through quality assurance and deployment.
  • Prepare detail application support documents as well as user documentation, in order to provide for on-going applications support.
  • Foster and maintain good relationships with internal customers and IT colleagues to meet expected service levels.
  • Ability to develop and support applications for the current version of ArcServer. ArcSDE, ArcGIS Desktop , Workflow Manager and ArcMobile with technologies including, but not limited to Silverlight/WPF, ArcObjects, C#.NET, ASP.NET,  WCF, SOA/Web Services, ArcGIS Server REST API, Javascript frameworks, Dojo, SQL+, T-SQL and Python.
  • Thorough knowledge of the development, maintenance and use of a versioned geo-database in ArcSDE
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications for appointment:

  • Knowledge of ESRI’s Suite of tools including ArcGIS Desktop and ArcServer is required.   
  • Ability to navigate and understand existing data structures in Oracle and SQLServer databases is desired. 
  • Understanding of the full life-cycle of software development processes using the Agile Scrum methodology.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices including but not limited to automated testing would be a plus.
  • Understanding of GPS data collection management workflows is desired.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and management.

Education:  Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent education.

Experience Requirements:  Three to five years’ experience developing and supporting business applications, with desired exposure to both thick and thin client environments. 

Other Requirements:  May be required to perform on-call duty, work shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as directed.  May be required to drive to various outlying locations in the performance of job duties.
