Visiting Assistant Professor in Geographic Information Science

Clark University seeks to fill a one- year position in Geographic Information Science at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2015. The initial appointment will be for one year, but may be renewable, pending funding and satisfactory performance. The major responsibility will be to teach a total of five courses, including core GIS courses such as Intro to GIS, Advanced vector GIS, Computer programming for GIS with Python, and Spatial database development. Knowledge of ArcGIS 10.x Desktop, programming experience with Python, and knowledge of geodatabases is required; knowledge of Idrisi software is desirable. This position will serve primarily Master's Program in GIS for Development and Environment (http://www.clarku.edu/departments/international-development-community-environment/programs/gis-development-environment/) - a joint Program between the Department of International Development, Community, and Environment (www.clarku.edu/departments/idce) and the Graduate School of Geography (www.clarku.edu/departments/geography).

A PhD in Geography or related discipline is preferred, but we will also consider applicants with a Master's degree and at least three years of experience in the GIS industry. This position will be based in the Department of International Development, Community, and Environment (IDCE).

Applicants must show a commitment to teaching and working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary program.
