Purpose |
The Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit Catholic institution, is seeking applications for a 5-course academic year adjunct lecturer. Courses will include one section of World Geography and one section of Environmental Thought in Fall quarter, one lecture section of World Geography in Winter quarter, and one section of Introduction to Environmental Studies and one section of World Geography in Spring quarter. Combined, these lecture sections equate to five courses.

$37,500 - $39,500 depending on teaching experience; benefits eligible. This salary range corresponds to a five-course teaching load. |
Basic Qualifications |
M.S. or Ph.D. in Environmental Studies, Environmental Humanities, Geography, or a closely related field.

Responsibilities |
Faculty responsibilities include (1) teaching, (2) advising, and (3) some service, as specified by the Santa Clara University Faculty Handbook (sec. 3.6). Duties for this particular position include but are not limited to teaching two sections of Introduction to Environmental Studies, two sections of Environmental Thought and one section of World Geography. This entails fulfilling all responsibilities associated with the assigned courses, including:
a. Conducting all assigned class meetings and individual conferences with students;
b. Assigning and evaluating student work including exams and written assignments;
c. Holding weekly office hours on campus;
d. Submitting student grades to the Registrar by the designated deadline;
e. Administering numerical and narrative course evaluations and any other evaluation requested by the chair or dean; and
f. Fulfilling other academic duties, such as attending faculty meetings or departmental events, including those assigned by the Dean of the College or the Chair of the Department.
