Crime Research Analyst

This position will be a full time position located in the area of Malone, New York. This position will be a RIT College of Liberal Arts, department of Criminal Justice employee, working remotely off site, under the direction of the Crime Analysis Center Director and RIT.
 
Detailed Job Description     The employee analyzes and interprets data using predictive policing
methods to distill and disseminate information to various Criminal Justice
agencies. The employee gathers and analyzes crime statistics and identifies
criminal trends through statistical crime and mapping technologies. This
position requires specialized knowledge in the field of crime analysis theories
and crime analysis software. The Crime Analysts Position requires minimum of
Level 1 crime analyst certification required by Department of Criminal Justice
Services. Certification is obtained in the form of specialized testing and is
administered once a year by Department of Criminal Justice Services, and is ideal
to hold a crime analyst position. These employees require specialization and
advanced knowledge of crime analysis strategies and philosophies of crime
analysis and must have proper judgment and analytical approach to such
data.  This predictive policing requires
advanced knowledge of crime patterns and regular offenders within the system.

Required Minimum Qualifications     Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, related social science, business, or information technology field

Critical thinking and analytical skills are necessary

Clean criminal history is required Trustworthiness and ability to address issues with confidentiality

ArcGIS

Microsoft suite – in particular: Excel, Access, OneNote
