Position Summary
Provide staff support to University Land Use Planning staff.

This employer is seeking to fill one part-time Student Technical Assistant position for the Capital Planning Development department at Oregon State University.
 
Position Duties
Assist University Land Use Planning staff with projects including data collection, data analysis, graphics, and GIS mapping.

Working Conditions/Work Schedule:
Primarily in an office environment at a work station; however, some field work and site visits may be required.

The student worker may be required to work approximately 10-20 hours per week during the school year, and may work full time during the summer.
 
Minimum/Required Qualifications
Must meet the minimum enrollment qualifications. Please see the link below for more information on enrollment requirements.
Minimum Enrollment Requirements

Ability to create a map with multiple layers and semi-complex symbology in ArcMap
Knowledge of typical GIS file structure and how to work with feature classes and shapefiles
Proficient in basic geoprocessing functions, such as clip, erase, buffer and the Field Calculator
Ability to write basic formulas in Excel
Ability to perform data organization and management in Excel and GIS
Ability to adapt to changing projects and assignments and complete tasks on short notice
Attention to Detail (especially when collecting data)
Ability to create a professional PowerPoint presentation
Ability to communicate and present in a professional manner
Ability to perform research and piece together bits of information
Familiar with layout of OSU campus

This position requires driving a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the University; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions (as per Voluntary and Compulsory Driver Standards OSU Standard 125-155-0200) as per OSU Standard 576-056-0000 et seq. Ability to perform a join in GIS
Ability to import data from Excel to ArcGIS and vice versa
Basic AutoCAD
Working knowledge of tax lots and the ability to pull up an assessment map
Basic photoshop skills
Graphic design
