GIS Coordinator

Do you thrive in the pursuit of ensuring excellence in environmental consulting services for your clients? SWCA Environmental Consultants is expanding their team and looking for dynamic individuals who are following their passion in delivering the highest-quality project work.

 

Our Pasadena office offers a unique work environment that supports a cohesive GIS services program for our four California offices. The selected candidate will oversee and lead the California GIS group. You will be responsible for developing and leading a GIS business line and supporting marketing and proposal efforts.

What you will accomplish:

Interoffice and interdisciplinary coordination of mapping and data products and services.  Development of database management systems for data collection and organization.  Deployment
of web-based services and visualization tools to support decision processes, client access and planning.  Keeping abreast of current technologies to help improve data collection and cataloging
processes.

Experience and qualifications for success:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, Archaeology, GIS Technology (GIST), Biology, Environmental Science or related field with an emphasis in GIS (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience managing complex GIS deliverables and GIS teams
  • Demonstrated experience with ArcGIS 10.x /ArcGIS Pro as well as knowledge of cartography and computer mapping includingdesign principles and understanding map creation procedures in ArcGIS required
  • Demonstrated ability of data transfer, data analysis, data mining, and data inventory using basic spreadsheet applications (e.g., Excel, Access, ArcGIS attribute tables)
  • Demonstrated experience with GPS and GNSS technology, ArcPad and Terrasync, field data collection techniques, data integration to a GIS, and troubleshooting of equipment and digital files
  • Prior experience working with regulatory agencies such as the USFS, NPS, BLM, BOR, USGS desired
  • Knowledge of ArcSDE, ArcPad, ArcServer, Python, .NET, Java, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, ODK, PHP, HTML, key markup language is a plus
  • Remote sensing understanding and experience with Erdas Imagine, IDL, ENVI, ArcGIS Model Builder and/or IDRISI
  • Ability to develop and implement presentations, and/or written protocol of methods for reports or within metadata to replicate GIS-related analyses or modeling techniques applied on projects is strongly preferred
