Purdue UniversityGIS Analyst I - Maps and RecordsProvide support for campus property and base map related data used throughout Purdue University Physical Facilities and other departments of Purdue University and relevant agencies. Creation and maintenance of the campus base map, including relevant surface and terrain information encompassing nearly 4,000 acres including the West Lafayette campus and satellite campuses. Maintain property related data for Purdue University and the Purdue Research Foundation encompassing approximately 19,000 acres.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Coursework in boundary surveying and cadastral mapping.
- Coursework or equivalent relevant formal education or training in computer aided design and cartography or GIS.
- Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Minimum 2 years recent relevant experience in land information systems, urban planning, real estate, or property mapping.
- Minimum 2 years recent relevant experience using computer aided design (CAD), GIS, and/or relational database management (RDBMS) experience using an industry-standard software package.
- Experience using a Microsoft equivalent database to develop reporting and productivity tools.
- Experience using public records and other primary source methods to research property information.
- Strong understanding of the process involved with the creation and maintenance of base maps and planimetrics in a research university campus environment or city planning type of environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and use of relational databases.
- Working knowledge of property mapping standards and the ability to analyze property records.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to check own work.
- Highly motivated individual who will take the initiative to solve problems, assume responsibility, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to accurately compile, review, and interpret complex geospatial data.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints and related deliverable documents from contractors and staff.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to adopt a learning orientation towards obtaining and maintaining proficiency in relevant emerging technologies.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use tact and discretion while working with sensitive information.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering, geography, urban planning, computer graphics technology or related field.
