ELIGIBILITY: |
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least one year. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final. |

DRUG & ALCOHOL TESTING: |
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment will be required to submit to drug and alcohol testing. Testing is also required prior to promotion to a sensitive job classification. |

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: |
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a criminal conviction check. |

SERVICE FEE: |
City employees who are represented by a union will be required to become union members or to pay a service fee as a condition of continuing employment after completion of a probationary period. |

PROBATION: |
All persons, including current City employees, selected from an eligible list resulting from this examination will be on probation for six months. |

A GIS Analyst uses GIS technologies and practices to develop, coordinate and convert complex geo-databases and performs complex spatial analysis or leads others in the development and analysis of complex spatial projects to support GIS initiatives in the City of Baltimore. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Employees in this class works a conventional workweek that includes being on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week due to emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications: |
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
Have a bachelor’s degree in Geography, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university with Geographic Information Systems coursework; AND Have one year of experience working with and developing systems utilizing GIS platforms such as ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop or Server software suites; or performing GIS modeling and spatial analysis.

Have an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience working with and develolping systems utilizing GIS platforms such as ESRI's ArcGIS Desktop or Server software suites; or performing GIS modeling amd spatial analysis.
