GIS Analyst - Building Information - West Lafayette - Asset Management - Maps and Records

Provide support for building related GIS data used throughout Purdue University Physical Facilities and other departments of Purdue University. Creation and maintenance of all floor plans for all buildings used by Purdue University including buildings owned, rented, leased, and potential purchases currently numbering around 900 buildings across 4 campuses, agricultural centers, business centers, forests, farms, and offices throughout the state of Indiana. Support building information modeling (BIM) components relating to architectural and space management disciplines to include assisting with the development of standards, levels of development and deliverable requirements, and integration into the GIS.

Qualifications

 

Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree.   
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Two years of recent experience working with floor plans and space management in a top-100 US research university or in a ENR top-100 architecture/engineering firm.
  • Two years of experience using one or more BIS/BIM industry-standard software packages. 
  • Two years of experience using either Bentley or AutoDesk or other top-10 US software to produce and analyze floor plans in a 3D environment.
  • Experience using a Microsoft equivalent database to develop reporting and productivity tools.
  • Experience using top-10 US BIM industry-standard software packages.
  • Strong understanding of the creation and maintenance processes for floor plans, building information models, building information systems, and space management data in a top-100 US research university campus environment.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated individual who will take the initiative to solve problems, assume responsibility and meet deadlines.
  • Able to exercise independent judgement and creativity necessary to balance multiple priorities and clients.
  • Ability to accurately compile, review and interpret complex geospatial data. 
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and related deliverable documents from contractors and staff. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to adopt a learning orientation towards obtaining and maintaining proficiency in relevant emerging technologies.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.  
  • Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use tact and discretion while working with sensitive information.
 
 Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical graphics, architecture, engineering, geomatics, geography, or related field.
  • Experience developing and producing building information models using established BIM standards.
