The purpose of this position is to coordinate community integrity and long-range planning activities, including managing multiple community integrity programs, providing technical assistance to agencies, citizens and staff, facilitating planning studies and projects and other similar activities. Other duties may include conducting research, assisting in overseeing special projects, participating in City Council and other meetings, responding to professional and citizen inquiries and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position provides direction to other employees.
Essential Functions:

Provides information to citizens, outside organizations and other employees by meeting with public groups, making presentations and relaying technical information regarding demographics, long-range plans and community integrity programs. Facilitates implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, including coordination with other divisions and departments. This may include amendments to codes, ordinances, and procedures or the initiation of new studies and programs. Coordinates the maintenance, updating, and the dissemination of information relating to the city’s Comprehensive Plan. Plans, organizes, and reviews daily work for assigned staff within the context of City policies and procedures including training, assigning/monitoring work, and assisting in hiring, performance evaluation, counseling, and disciplining. Conducts community integrity activities, meets with community agencies, HOA representatives, business owners and citizens. Develops and implements community integrity and long-range planning studies and programs and oversees special projects. Assists in overseeing department activities by assigning and evaluating projects, meeting with employees, establishing goals and objectives, identifying programs and projects, assisting in resolving problems and issues and preparing reports. Participates in City Council, Planning Commission and other meetings and represents the department in official and unofficial capacities. Responds to professional and citizen inquiries by responding to questions related to planning and interacting with the community regarding department projects and programs.
Job Requirements: Education Work requires specialized knowledge in a professional or technical field. Work requires professional level of knowledge of a discipline equivalent to that which is acquired in a Master's degree-level of study, P.E., Legal degree, CPA, etc.
Experience Over three years up to and including five years of relevant experience.
Certification and Other Requirements
Valid Texas Class C Driver's License American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) preferred Applicants are requested to attach a cover letter and resume to the completed application.
