This position provides the primary technical assistance and consulting support for the Facilities Management Department (FMD) geographic and spatial functions, such as mapping, AutoCAD support , and other, similar technical activities. This position is responsible to ensure that all applicable information and databases are accurate and are properly displayed and articulated in maps, drawings, specifications, and reports. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Geography or related field.
Experience in the operation of field global positioning units and must be competent with Trimble and ESRI software products.
OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Preferred Qualifications
GIS Certificate.
CAD and AIMCAD Experience.
One year of experience with mapping.
Experience in statistical analysis of data.

Working Conditions
Working conditions for this position will be a 70/30 mix of office and field activities.
While in the office, work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer work station for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required.
While in the field, work is conducted generally in natural and unimproved areas. Must be able to work for long hours in adverse weather conditions of hot, cold, windy and within various precipitation occurrences. The employee must be able to carry a day pack and equipment for the entire work day in these conditions.
Occasional work on construction sites may be necessary. This may require long hours of standing and working around heavy equipment. Job Duties

Creates and maintains data and information displayed in maps created by FMD.
Organizes work performed by mapping crews to ensure they are using field and data management methodologies developed by senior staff.
Utilizes AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and similar graphic software programs to record and generate field data (maps and drawings) of campus-wide facilities, grounds, and infrastructure.
Maintains databases and spreadsheets associated with collection and generation of field data (including data input, export, and graphical presentation).
Reads, interprets, and understands construction plans, specifications, and other related documents. Job Duties
Gathers, analyzes, interprets, and processes interior space data and information pertaining to interior spaces of CWU buildings using AutoCAD and Space Programs (Asset Works) software, and/or other applicable software.
Researches and analyzes problems and issues pertaining to interior space and provides recommendations to senior level staff. Job Duties
Works closely with end users to identify GIS and other similar product requirements, technical issues, and training needs.
Analyzes current business processes and recommends best practice solutions.
Constructs information technology definitions and databases based on identified needs of the organization.
Designs, implements and tests configuration changes in packaged software such as ESRI to meet end user business requirements.
Tests new and revised software programs and interfaces to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the geographic, spatial, and drawings and specifications data. Job Duties
