Transportation Planner

We have an opportunity for a Transportation Planner in our Coral Gables, Florida office. Reporting to the Project Manager/Project Principal, the Transportation Planner will lead the development of transportation planning and engineering reports and studies, including reports for Project Development and Environment (PD&E) studies based on the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) as administered by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

Your Duties:

In addition the following experience and/or responsibilities are required:

  • Assist project manager / project principal with client, consultant, and project team coordination on projects
  • Perform research, conduct environmental and transportation planning analyses (field and desktop), develop recommendations, and prepare technical reports under NEPA
  • Prepare/oversee the preparation of technical reports and studies
  • Provide quality assurance and quality control for all final products to ensure technical accurateness and regulatory compliance
  • Assist and eventually lead in the preparation of proposals and other marketing endeavors
  • Experience with State DOT procedures and preferences are required
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation engineering and/or planning projects
  • B.S. in planning and/or related engineering or environmental discipline
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification, or ability to obtain certification within the next 2 years strongly desired
  • Strong technical knowledge of State Department of Transportation design and planning procedures. Experience with DOT’s within the Southeast United States is desired including FDOT, LADOT, TXDOT, MDOT, GDOT, SCDOT and/or NCDOT
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory/resource agencies, local governments
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Good organization, coordination, and managerial skills necessary to maintain project schedules and budgets
  • Good technical writing skills; capable of writing reports, letters and technical specifications
  • Good verbal communication skills and "people" skills.
  • Knowledge and experience using GIS
  • Graphic presentation skills and/or 3-D Modeling experience preferred.
